Early logging truck

Early logging truck

Trucks were not used for carrying logs until after the First World War, when soldiers returned from the muddy battlefields of Flanders. This huge kauri log has been loaded on to one of Hamilton and Jones’s Republic trucks at Hikutaia, near Thames, about 1930.
