This strip of street cafés is along Jervois Road, Auckland, in 2006. The street café became a symbol of the revival of city street life. In the early 1990s city councils bowed to pressure from café owners and allowed them to place tables and chairs on footpaths outside their premises. In winter many café owners use portable gas heaters to keep their outside customers warm.
