These family photos and documents were part of a large collection which was found in a battered old suitcase in November 2009. The suitcase had been thrown into a Methodist Social Services clothing bin in Palmerston North. When the suitcase was opened, it contained framed pictures, diaries with drawings, news clippings and a book of diagrams. Six weeks later the records remained unclaimed. Such disposal of family memories underlines the importance of the role of genealogists in preserving family records for later generations.
