Animal-welfare activists dressed as pigs and hens present a petition to Green MP Sue Kedgley on 22 September 2010, supporting her Animal Welfare Amendment Bill. The bill aimed to phase out factory-farming methods, including sow crates and battery hen cages. Petitions have traditionally been a way for individual citizens and lobby groups to make their concerns known to Parliament, and presenting petitions publicly is also a way of attracting media coverage for a cause.
