Northern Māori MP Taurekareka (Tau) Hēnare (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi) escorts the governor-general, Lord Bledisloe, and his wife onto the Waitangi Treaty House grounds in 1934. Mr Hēnare represented the conservative Reform Party during his political career. His great-grandson and namesake entered Parliament as Northern Māori MP in 1993.
