Story: Classical musicians

Kiri Te Kanawa, 2009 (3rd of 3)

Kiri Te Kanawa, 2009

Kiri Te Kanawa takes a curtain call after her performance as the Marschallin in Richard Strauss's opera Der rosenkavalier at Cologne Opera, Germany, in 2009. She chose this opera, which tells the story of an older woman gracefully giving way to youth, for her final professional engagement. Although it marked her official retirement, she has continued to sing publicly since.
