This advertisement for Carmen’s nightclub The Balcony highlights the variety of entertainment on offer: strip shows by female, male and transgender performers, fire dancers, Spanish flamenco, comic acts and belly dancing. As owner, Carmen Rupe claimed she ‘had the lot’ and she often appeared on stage herself.
