Kapa haka group Te Waka Huia perform the whakaeke (entrance) at the 1996 Aotearoa Traditional Māori Performing Arts Festival (later renamed Te Matatini o te Rā). The accompanying popular tune (from the film The lion king) is one of the most recognisable in modern kapa haka competition. This whakaeke includes various elements including a taiaha routine.
