What is Matariki?

This video introduces the stars of the Matariki cluster and the different elements they represent. It also talks about Puhanga and Rehua, other stars which are recognised as marking the new year by some iwi.  Those interviewed are recognised mātauranga Māori experts from across Aotearoa - Dr Pauline Harris, Victoria Campbell, Hoturoa Barclay-Kerr, Rereata Makiha, Dr Ruakere Hond, Jack Thatcher and Dr Rangiānehu Matamua.
