Ka purua ngā kūmara ki te rua, arā, ngā kūmara hei kai me ngā kōpura hei whakatō ki te māra ā te tau ka tū. Ka katia te rua mā tētahi kūaha, ka taupokina rānei. Ka keria te rua ki te tahataha (1) ka ketua rānei ki te papa whenua kia rite ki te pere te hanga (2). He rere hei pana wai (3 me te 4). He tuanui ki ētahi o ngā rua nui, e ai ki te Pākehā, he rite ki te ‘cellar’ (4 me te 5). Tērā tētahi rua iti, he tapawhā te takoto, ka keria ki tētahi wāhi wātea, ki roto rānei i te whare, ki roto rānei i tētahi rua nui atu.
