Births to women aged 13–19 years, 1962–2016

The rate of births to women under the age of 20 increased significantly from the early 1960s and reached its highest level in the early 1970s. In 1973 nearly one-third of young women who turned 20 that year already had a child. After this the rate generally declined, though it increased in the early 2000s before dropping once more in the 2010s.
