These diagrams show the number of child abuse and neglect notifications Child Youth and Family (CYF) received, the number of cases which were investigated further and the number of confirmed cases per financial year between 2003 and 2008, 2011 and 2015. The number of notifications increased during the first five years, while the proportion of cases identified as requiring further investigation was higher in the latter period. Emotional abuse was the most common form of abuse, and sexual abuse the least common.
