Ko te mapi rāwekeweke nei e whakaatu ana i te rironga o te nuinga o ngā whenua Māori o roto o Te Waipounamu i roto i te 20 tau i ngā rautau 1900. E hāngai ana ngā hokohoko ki ngā oati o te karauna kia Ngāi Tahu kia whai oranga rātou mai i ngā kura, hōhipera me ōna whenua. Nā te rahi o ngā tau i hipa (150) me te kore whakatutuki i āna oati te take i tino nui ai te utu kerēme tiriti mo te rironga o ngā whenua.
