Wellington’s outer green belt

Wellington’s outer green belt

As well as the original town belt, Wellington has an outer green belt on the hilltops west of the city. The belt, which consists of council-owned and private land, was created to protect the landscape’s bare ridgelines and native bush-clad hills. There are tracks throughout, and keen walkers can tramp from Tawa in the north to the city’s south coast.
