Mai i te tekau tau 1880, i te wā i a Kīngi Tāwhiao, e hereherengia ana ngā marae o Te Kīngitanga ki ngā tikanga pēnei me te Poukai.  He hui i ia tau.  Ka tau ki ētehi o ngā marae e hāereerea ai e Te Kīngi ko tōna āhua he hākari, he kōrero i ngā take o te wā, he kapahaka.  Kei tēnei mahere ngā marae poukai.
