Kōrero: Opera and musical theatre

Flora Edwards

Flora Edwards, seen here receiving the insignia of an officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to music, has had a long association with opera, both as a singer and a voice teacher. As well as forming several opera groups, she directed numerous operas performed by students at Massey University’s Conservatorium of Music, where she taught and was later director. Here she sings part of 'King Orpheo', the first of 'Three Scots ballads' by David Farquhar in 1980. The pianist is Colleen Rae-Gerrard.
