In February 1935 the touring England women's team defeated New Zealand in a very one-sided game. In reply to the New Zealand first innings of 44, the English made 503 for five declared. The innings featured a 235-run partnership between E. A. Snowball and M. Hide. Snowball (left) and Hide are shown walking to the crease. The image on the right is the New Zealand team who made 122 in their second innings, giving victory to England by an innings and 337 runs. The members of the New Zealand team are (from left): Hilda Buck, Mavis Corby, Agnes Ell, Margaret Marks, Nancy Browne, Pearl Savin, Helen Miller, Peggy Taylor, Marjorie Bishop, Merle Hollis and Ruth Symons (captain).
