1990 was a memorable year for New Zealand cycling. Karen Halliday (right) won the first senior championship in Japan, winning the points race. Madonna Harris (left) was second in the world championships 3,000-metre pursuit, having won gold in the same event in the Auckland Commonwealth Games earlier that same year. Gary Anderson (front) also achieved great success at the Commonwealth Games, winning three gold medals. Coach Ron Cheatley is in the centre.
