‘Ruia, ruia, tahia, tahia’

Hei te kōanga ka tau te kūaka ki Muriwhenua, ā, hei te ngahuru kua hoki ki tērā taha o te ao. He tohu nui tēnei manu ki a Muriwhenua. He kōrero whakarite hoki mō Tūmatahina me tana ārahi i tōna iwi kia puta i te pā o Murimotu. Ka rere rātou i te pā pērā i te kūaka. Nei rā ngā kōrero kei raro iho nei e whakamārama ana i taua mahinga:

Ruia, ruia, tahia, tahia,
Kia hemo te kākoakoa,
Kia herea mai i te kawau korokī.
Kia tātaki mai i roto i te pūkorokoro, whaikoro,
Te kūaka, he kūaka mārangaranga,
Tahi te manu i tau ki te tāhuna tau atu, tau atu, tau atu!
