A group of scientists attaches a monitoring device to Aurora, a New Zealand sea lion (Phocarctos hookeri), at Otago peninsula in April 2008. They attached a small, lightweight satellite tracking and time-depth recording device to the sea lion. The devices were glued to the animals and are discarded during the annual moult. In the picture are (clockwise from left) Massey University veterinarian Kerri Morgan, DOC scientist Louise Chilvers, biologist Jacinda Amey, DOC ranger Jim Fyfe, Otago University PhD student Amelie Auge and Dunedin veterinarian Tony Matthews.
