These pipes are part of the geothermal heat-exchanger plant at the pulp and paper mill in Kawerau. Geothermal steam is used to boil feed water, which flashes off as clean steam. Steam is used in the plant for digesting wood pulp, drying timber and paper, and generating electricity.
