Kōrero: Te ngahere

E ai ki te Māori he hononga ita kei waenganui i te tangata me te ngahere – inarā nā te atua nā Tāne te tangata me te ngahere i auaha. He wāhi mīharo te ngahere, ko te mokomoko, te manu, aha atu, ngā kaitiaki. Ko te ngahere te whakaruruhau, te pātaka kai a te Māori. Ka noho te ngahere me ngā rākau, ngā tipu hei kai, hei rongoā, hei rauemi hanga whare, raranga kākahu hoki.

Story Summary

Ngā whakaahua

Tāne

Ko Tāne te atua o ngā wao, ā, nāna ōna mātua a Ranginui rāua ko Papatūānuku i wehe. Ko te tōtara, te kauri, te tawai ngā rākau ikeike rawa i te wao nui; kīia ai ko ngā pou toko i a Rangi rāua ko Papa.

Mauri

Ka puritia te mauri o te ngahere ki roto i te kōhatu, te mokomoko rānei. Ka karakia ngā tohunga hei tiaki, hei whakapūmau i te mauri. I mua i te poro rākau, te mahi kai rānei kua tuku karakia.

Kai

Kainga ai e te Māori ngā tipu o te ngahere - ngā pakiaka me ngā pihinga o te tī; ngā hua o te hīnau me te poroporo. He mea nui ngā kākano o te karaka, engari kia tūpato, me kōhua mō te hāora, ka waiho ki te wai rere mō te kotahi wiki kātahi anō ka pai hei kai.

Te raranga

Ka whatua ngā kākahu, kete, rā i te harakeke. Ka whatua te muka harakeke hei here mō ngā whao, ngā taiapa, ngā whare, ngā waka.
