Closing Waipū

Watch this TV news clip from 1989 showing the fierce battle waged by the small Northland town of Waipū to save their post office from closure. Residents formed the Waipu Action Committee to coordinate their protest action. They produced a special stamp for their letters, to carry their message around the country and further afield.
