Ann, a resident of Templeton Centre near Christchurch, talks about the kind of house she would like to live in when she leaves the institution where she has spent most of her life. In 1996 the policy of deinstitutionalisation meant that Templeton, then home to 480 people with intellectual disabilities, was in the process of closing down. Those affected often had mixed feelings, including excitement and trepidation.
