New Zealand was an enthusiastic supporter of the Colombo Plan, whose aim was to counter communism in Asia through economic and social development. This included sponsoring Asian students to study at New Zealand universities. A 1964 government film, titled Colombo Plan: our student guests, showed the experiences of one cohort of students in Wellington. This clip highlights some of the industries the students came to train in.
