This poster produced by the State Services Commission shows the chief executives of 33 government ministries and departments. Only three of them are women: Katrina Bach (Department of Building and Housing), Karen Sewell (Ministry of Education) and Rowena Phair (Ministry of Women's Affairs). The first woman chief executive in New Zealand’s public service was Mary O’Regan, who became chief executive of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in 1984.
