This map shows the site of the Festival of Empire and Imperial Exhibition, held in 1911 at the Crystal Palace in London. The festival and exhibition marked the coronation of King George V. Events included an inter-empire sports championship, with competitions in athletics, swimming, boxing and wrestling. Teams from Great Britain, Canada and Australasia entered. The Australasian team included four New Zealanders: swimmer Malcolm Champion and runners Guy Haskins, William Woodger and Ronald Opie. Woodger was unable to run due to injury. Tennis player Anthony Wilding was originally accepted for the team, but tennis was then scratched from the festival programme.
